Screen Digest announces the first two keynote speakers for PEVE Digital Entertainment 2008.
London, 7th January 2008: Screen Digest has announced the first two keynote speakers for PEVE Digital Entertainment 2008. Matt Brown, Executive VP International, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is a long-term supporter of PEVE, having spoken at the conference many times during his tenure as President Home Entertainment International for DreamWorks, when he was based in London. Now LA-based, he is responsible for SPHE's International business. He lends his support to the newly expanded conference, and says, "PEVE has been a source for great information and interaction between colleagues each year. When I miss PEVE (once or twice in the past 8 years) I feel I have missed out on an important industry working event."

Eddie Cunningham, President, Universal Pictures International Entertainment will be addressing PEVE for the first time since taking on the role of President of UPI from Peter Smith – who gave the Opening Keynote at PEVE 2006 – following the latter's promotion to President, NBC Universal International. Based in London, Eddie Cunningham oversees international sales, distribution and marketing for all home entertainment titles under the Universal banner and manages all aspects of UPIE's home entertainment operations and strategic planning. He stated, "PEVE is one of the seminal moments in our industry year. It gives people the opportunity to take a good look at what is happening in the industry and it's important for people to attend."

The confirmation of two such high-profile industry figures as just two of the keynote speakers at the forthcoming event underlines the commitment of organisers Screen Digest to creating a broader and more far-reaching programme for PEVE Digital Entertainment 2008 than for any previous PEVE conference. Full details of the programme for PEVE 2008 will be unveiled over the next few weeks and will include:

    • How retailers can best exploit the evolving home entertainment sector
    • Building a successful digital delivery model: what works, what doesn't – and why
    • The role of manufacturing-on-demand (MOD) in extending the Long Tail
    • Why 3D is good news for the entertainment business
    • Making the most of the cross-over potential between movies and video games
    • Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD: face to face
